Korean Music Other Than KPOP

Although I’m not a huge fan of Kpop, I have nothing against it. I just wanna give some love to some other artists out there in other genres that may not get as much play as all the idol groups. The artists above don’t necessarily reflect how popular they are, but they are the ones I know well and some of my favs. Don’t take it personally if your favorite is not on here. It’s just a quick list I wanted to come up with to share with those of you who are looking for something other than the standard Kpop fare from time to time.

    But.. what about F.T Island?
they are a good rock band

    • says:

I would argue that they are an idol rock band and not really rock lol

    • Patrick07 says:

they’re more a kind of Kpoprock band not a pure rock itself

  3. Fitri Amalia says:

Cn blue & ft. Island are idol rock band. Not rock band. Btw there is no jung joonyoung? He is solo rocker

    • Dominic 'Dom' Dinkins says:

Like I said these are just some of my personal favs.

    • Patrick07 says:

CNBLUE & F.T.Island are more PopRock band than a rock band

Nice. 🙂 Many I’ve heard of before, but also lots I haven’t. I love discovering new music! Btw, I think the hangeul for “Primary” is wrong. Looks like you accidentally wrote 페퍼톤스 twice. . .

    • Dominic 'Dom' Dinkins says:

      Thanks! I just corrected it.

  5. Marit says:

I must say that I’m quite fond of Urban Zakapa, Standing Egg and J Rabbit!

  6. Michael Hwang says:

Dominic, who’s your favorite Korean hip-hop artist??

  7. Alexis says:

Loooove this list! Sometimes it’s hard to find korean music that isn’t kpop.

  8. 나나 says:

It’s nice that you included TRAX in spite of being one of SM bands. They used to be my favorite band 🙂

I don’t know if you heard of this band, it is not very famous, 홀로그램 필름, they kind of mix a lot of styles, give it a try if you want. I like their song “Dead End” a lot.

  9. TLay Lay says:

I really enjoy kpop, but over the past 3 years I’ve been listening to other korean music genres. Indie and hip-hop are probably my fav next to kpop. 🙂
